Name: Kassan
Age: ...Yes. (Pokemon aging rates are nebulous at best, so I'm going with "the equivalent of a human in their mid 20s")
AU/PG/CANON/OC: Pokemon OC
Key Points:
History:
Smogon University is one of the top institutions in the Pokemon world for learning how to battle effectively. Graduating from the program is a huge honor, but students and alumni are known to be elitist jerks, looking down on anyone who does not battle in the exact style they do. Kassan, then an unnamed Fennekin, was one of many Pokemon specially bred by the university to act as starters for graduates. The breeding program was rather nice, and Kassan spent his infancy in fair luxury and comfort: nice breeders, good care, good food, the whole nine yards of textbook Pokemon care and raising.
And then he was handed off to his trainer, a cold, no-nonsense man that gave Kassan his name for no other reason than traditional obligation. He was a good trainer, but only in the sense that he won a lot of battles. Training sessions were hard, failure was met with beatings from the rest of the team, and communication was limited to sharply barked orders and angry yelling. It was incredibly impersonal, to the point where very few of the team even knew the trainer's name.
This arrangement lasted for several years, until the trainer decided to start making replacements. It happened one by one, team members being replaced with "stronger, better" Pokemon. Those replaced were simply abandoned on the spot, rather than being stored. It was a blessing, really, getting that freedom from oppression. For Kassan, it happened in Lumiose City, where he was dumped on the street in favor of a Talonflame that "better fit the team composition". The only real life he knew had just left him, but tat wasn't a bad thing.
Nonetheless, it took Kassan a while to adjust. All he really knew how to do was fight, and so that's what he did to get by. He started simple and direct: mugging people in the back streets, stealing their money before their Pokemon could react, stealing food where he could... As the novelty of freedom wore off, however, he started playing more by the rules, if only to better evade police and Pokemon control. He participated in underground battling rings, taking out Pokemon rather than humans for prize money. It earned him something of a name: the wild "demon Delphox" that spelled the end of any poor sap stupid or unlucky enough to take him on. Even without a trainer, Kassan still held his own, being able to take most anything down in one hit.
His reputation garnered some benefits. He had something of a rapport with other wild and feral Pokemon in Lumiose, though it only extended insofar as "Don't try to fight him" and/or "do good by him and he'll probably give you food." He was considering making something of it, perhaps making a gang or organizing the other feral Pokemon in some fashion, but then he fell down a hole and ended up in some odd temple with a rock glued to his face.
Personality: Kassan is a snarky, crass, and generally self-serving jerk that has tasted freedom and perhaps took it too far. Gone are the days of being a slave to a trainer that didn't even consider letting his name be known. Everything he does now is for himself, even if it means going about it with the same sort of cold ruthlessness his former trainer did. He is a free spirit, and will often do things just because he wants to, or because it's simply entertaining. From this, he's gotten into a habit of insulting people to their faces when interacting with them, given that humans generally can't understand Pokemon. He does the same to other Pokemon, but to a lesser degree, and will sometimes stop if called out on.
More often than not, he will go out of his way to refuse others, though he is currently in the process of learning that favor is a currency, and gaining it from others can help benefit him in turn. As of now, however, it's little more to him that just that: currency. Something to be held and spent later on. Friendship doesn't mean much to him, as he's never taken the time to give it a chance.
His selfish attitude is furthered by a strong sense of ambition, which is probably the only thing that hasn't been stamped out of him since before being given to that trainer. He was a special breed, after all. The best product from the best breeders from the best institution, to be given to the best trainers. He was destined for great things, and he's going to work to get them, trainer or not. If nothing else, it's that ambition that has allowed him to keep going, even while digging through the dumpster of Restaurant Le Nah for the first thing he'll eat in three days. It's gotten him the inklings of a reputation so far, so why stop there?
All that said, he does possess a great deal of sympathy for those caught in the same situation he once was. He knows the pain of an abusive superior, and is much more likely to help out Pokemon with abusive trainers, if only in little ways. He doesn't admit to doing it out of sympathy, however, instead disguiing it under more selfish pretenses, like knocking an asshole trainer out with Hypnosis to take his cash and not give his team a few moments' reprieve, or insult them to their face to be mean and not to entertain those under him.
Gem Considerations: Cinnabar. Cinnibar primarily symbolizes releasing buried resentment, which is the source of most of Kassan's vices: resentment towards that trainer. The gem may subtly encourage him to let it go instead of seeking revenge. In addition, Cinnibar is tied to magic, divination, and fire, all traits inherent to Delphoxes as a whole. It also promotes prosperity, a trait that goes hand in hand with Kassan's ambition. It's all about the future and moving forward, his primary driving forces.
Power considerations:
Losing his abilities would start as a crippling blow. His ability to fight is all he has, and as that is being taken from him? Might as well go all the way and kill him entirely now. He'll be devastated.
This feeling will only last up until the point that he learns he can get them back. As soon as he knows that, he will have an immediate goal and be able to pick himself up off the ground and press forward. It will be difficult for him, but seeing others that are more powerful having started in his position will be all the encouragement he needs.

Key Points:
- Bred to be a Starter Pokemon for graduates of a prestigious battling university
- Given to and named by a trainer, headed off to Kalos to fight in the League there
- Trainer proved to be an incredible asshole. Effective at battling, but an asshole
- Kassan learned how to battle well. He enjoyed it, but trainer soured his experience.
- Trainer eventually abandoned Kassan in Lumiose City for a "better fire-type".
- Now lives on the streets of Lumiose with a general distrust of humans. Makes a living by stealing and battling overconfident trainers in side alleys. Generally a jerk to everyone, but has a soft spot for other Pokemon in his position. (You wouldn't believe the number of Froakies and Fletchlings abandoned around route 7)
